Artificial bezoars are mostly powdery, and some are irregularly spherical, ranging from light brown to golden yellow.

Use hands to touch, rub and pinch for identification. The general experience is "three points". Namely: (1) Bezoar is three-thirds lighter to handle: Bezoar has a loose texture and is lighter than other items of the same volume. Whether it is mud balls or common counterfeit products, they are generally heavier than bezoars, so there is a saying that bezoars are three-thirds lighter. (2) Three-thirds of yellow when rubbed with water: Traditionally, to identify bezoar, use a little bezoar and add water to rub it on the nail, which will appear yellow. It is commonly called "hanging nail" or "transparent nail". Generally speaking, as long as the bezoar particles with some moisture are rubbed on white paper or a sanded glass plate for a few times, light yellow traces will also appear. This color is not necessarily very deep, but it can remain unchanged for a long time. (3) Crush the bezoar into three-thirds pieces with your hands: The hardness of the bezoar is about 1 to 2°, and it is easy to crush. If it cannot be crushed, it should generally be regarded as a fake.

Put a little bezoar on the tip of your tongue, and a cool air will spread from the center of the tongue to the root of the tongue. The taste is slightly bitter but sweet, without other fishy or tangy taste. When chewed, it will be like mud without any residue. The saliva can be dyed light yellow. Counterfeit products often taste bitter and are difficult to chew, and sometimes have a greasy feel.

Bezoar is insoluble in water. It floats first and then sinks when placed in water. It does not swell, dissolve, or change color. It remains lumpy when boiled in water. Moisten a suture needle with bezoar powder and sink it vertically into the water. A cup can be seen. There is a line from top to bottom, and then it slowly spreads. After the artificial bezoar is boiled, the water will turn yellow and turbid. It will precipitate after leaving it for a while, and the water will return to its original color.

Take a small needle, burn it red, and pierce it into the bossy gallstones. If the bull gallstones breaks and becomes layered, the texture is fine and crispy, there are white spots in the center, and there is a fragrant smell, it is authentic.
